The 2017 New York Vegan Living Program (VLP) begins June 3, 2017! This session will begin with in-person check-in for our pre-registered Vegan Pledges and Vegan Coaches. Pledges and Coaches will have a chance to meet and get to know each other. This will be followed by an Introduction to Veganism presentation by Open the Cages Alliance (OTCA) Director and VLP co-organizer, Robin Helfritch, and a short video of “Vegan: A Life Connected”. This session will also feature a ‘Replacing Eggs and Dairy’ vegan cooking demonstration by Kyle Harvey of Alternative Cultures, with samples of the finished dishes distributed to participants.

Vegan food will be on sale at this session. Vendor to be determined.

Vegan cheese cakes, seitan, and cheeses will be on sale at this session by Alternative Cultures.

The NY Vegan Living Program (VLP) is FREE and being co-organized by Open the Cages Alliance (OTCA) and the Sustainability Institute at Molloy College for new and aspiring vegans, or individuals just interested in veganism.

Pre-registered Vegan Pledges pledge to live vegan for the duration of the program (approximately one month) with the help of volunteer Vegan Coaches, the VLP educational sessions and materials, and the supportive, encouraging community that forms at each year’s program. The goal of the VLP is to springboard participants into lifelong vegan living. OTCA also runs a program in Baltimore, Maryland in early Spring.
