Join Our Voice NYC, Square Roots Urban Growers, New York Restoration Project, and 350Brooklyn, to discuss sustainability in NYC. We will be discussing and creating a statement as the voice of NYC’s young people regarding NYC’s efforts toward sustainability, and our collective concerns surrounding the issue in our communities. Followed up with a tour of the Square Roots Farm and a chance to sample the greens and meet the local farmers that grow them!
Square Roots is an urban farming accelerator—powered by human ingenuity, technology, and a deep love for local, real food. @squarerootsgrow http://www.squarerootsgrow.com
The Square Roots Farm is inside the “old Pfizer factory”, which is located at 630 Flushing Ave, Brooklyn. The best way in is via Tompkins Avenue – which is the entrance to the factory’s parking lot. When you get here, aim for the main lobby of the building (that will be obvious) and head up to the 3rd floor. From there, just follow the signs for Square Roots (#370) THERE ARE NO PUBLIC PARKING SPACES HERE, but there is plenty of street parking and the J, M and G trains are all super close. If you are coming from Manhattan, we are barely 10 mins across the Williamsburg Bridge. If you get completely lost, just phone Christa at 862-251-1529.
