Long Island is on the frontline of climate change. From coastal erosion to ocean acidification and aquifer saltwater intrusion, our communities face an uncertain future without bold action to mitigate and adapt to the threat of climate change. With regression at the federal level, real climate action will come from states like New York.

In our state, we have the opportunity to enact bold climate legislation that puts people and planet first through NY Renews, an unprecedented statewide coalition of 100+ organizations fighting for climate policies grounded in equity and justice for communities and working people. We are community-based organizations, environmental justice groups, labor unions, faith-based organizations, and other advocates working together to ensure New York achieves ambitious and far-reaching climate solutions.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn and deeply engage with environmental justice issues in our state. Become informed and help develop the grassroots campaign that will enable NYS to make a fair and just transition from fossil fuels to a low carbon future. There is a role for everyone who wants to get involved, at whatever level, as we work to safeguard our island against climate impacts and create a more resilient future.

Join the Long Island Progressive Coalition and NY Renews in a kick-off workshop to inform and inspire active environmental leaders on Long Island. The main goals of this campaign are environmental sustainability, equity and a just job transition as NYS moves off fossil fuels into a renewable economy. The strategies will be broad and creative, and will include many paths, including legislative change.
